The city plans to attract not only call centers and companies that specialize in medical devices, manufacturing and automobile parts, which can create a large number of jobs, but also foreign-invested companies.

The city attracted eight companies (total investment: KRW 230.3 billion) in 2014, a 40 percent increase than that of 2013.

NEOFLAM, a cookware company that has moved to Wonju Corporate City in 2014, has been awarded the USD 30 million Export Tower by the government and hired 420 new workers.

"We are able to attract more companies due to the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics and the expanded transportation network between the metropolitan area and central part including the second Yeongdong Expressway and electric-double track railroad between Wonju and Gangneung," said a city official.
