Samcheok city to prepare to take off for hydrogen hub

The city of Samcheok appears to gain momentum to gear up to lay foundations for the development of an a network of interlinked companies that dynamically interact with each other through cooperation to scale up in materials and parts manufacturing, essential to hydrogen energy production, as the city-led project to facilitate materials innovations in hydrogen economy has been finally approved by the trade ministry.

The project, which costs nearly KRW 12 billion in total, will be carried out under the sponsorship of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Korea Ceramic Engineering and Technology, Korea Conformity Laboratories and Kangwon National University. Gangwon Technopark will take the lead in operation.

The city will form a specialist committee for industry-university partnership, build an equipment sharing network and business feasibility assessment remodeling platform, support prototyping and accreditation and provide tech-mentorship and HR training services over the next three years from 2022 to 2024.
