Gangwon-do and Pyeongchang-gun to attract green bio venture campus

Gangwon-do and Pyeongchang-gun set out to attract green bio venture campus with an aim to build a global innovation hub of national agricultural and bio resources industrialization

□ Gangwon-do announced that it received on-site inspection of the area for green bio venture campus creation on July 22.

□ It suggested to create the green bio venture campus on the industry-academic cooperation complex exclusive for green bio located within Pyeongchang Campus of Seoul National University in which construction can commence instantly thanks to: completed waterworks, electricity, road; and high-speed transport network as it is 5 minutes away from KTX Pyeongchang station, a one-hour distance from the Capital area.

□ Gangwon-do and Pyeongchang-gun have prepared substantial incentives such as: Gangwon venture new deal fund (KRW 170 billion), the largest scale offered by local governments nationwide; administrative incentives of providing up to 20 percent support for operation of the green bio venture campus; 30 rental houses of about 30-pyeong and 20 rooms for singles to support residence of the venture campus operation organizations and venture entrepreneurs; sports complex and preschool and guest houses.

□ To help green bio venture enterprises, GBST, KIST Gangneung Institute of Natural Products, and Chuncheon Bio-industry Foundation are also planned to collaborate.


□ With a goal of creating a green bio industry full life cycle convergence ecosystem to enable comprehensive development of the green bio industry, ranging from materials production to services, Gangwon is to advance the agricultural industry by applying high-tech ICT technologies like smart farm. By doing so, Gangwon plans to secure stable foundation for producing fresh agricultural products, and foster the natural bio new materials enterprises using agricultural and bio resources.

□ If Gangwon-do attracts the project to create the green bio venture campus, it will be a significant turning point for fostering the new green bio industry converged with IT and BT technologies with a focus on 5 promising industries of the green bio field (microbiome, meal replacement, seed, veterinary drugs, other biomaterials)
