According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do, which has been pushing for the creation of Korea's best E-Mobility industrial city, is set out to actively build related infrastructure.

Hoengseong-gun signed an MOU to build an E-Mobility charging infrastructure at the DPECO's conference room in the Woocheon Industrial Complex on August 18.

The agreement was signed by Hoengseong County Mayor, KEPCO Hoengseong Branch Manager, and CEOs of companies specialized in electric vehicle charging facility such as Korea EV Charger, Doam Engineering, and Pumpkin.

Korea EV Charger and Doam Engineering are specialized in charger production, and have been designated as a mutually beneficial job company by the government along with DPECO, an electric vehicle manufacturer. They are scheduled to sign move-in contract in this year, and relocate to Woocheon Industrial Complex, building factories here.

Pumpkin, which is headquartered in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do and produces the largest-scale electric bus charger in Korea, plans to build a research and production facility in Hoengseong Gonggeun Agricultural Complex, starting from this year by 2023.

According to the agreement, Hoengseong-gun will be in charge of promoting the supply and development of electric vehicles and cooperating for the establishment of charging facility infrastructure, while KEPCO will set up a dedicated charging infrastructure for companies purchasing electric vehicles.

In addition, DPECO will be in charge of vehicle sales by providing stable power and charging infrastructure, while Korea EV Charger, Doam Engineering, and Pumpkin share the role of supply and technology development of electric vehicle chargers.

By doing so, the county plans to transform Hoengseong-gun into the nation's best 'electric car heaven'.

In cooperation with KEPCO this year, SG Mart in Hoengseong-eup, which purchased the DPECO-produced vehicle 'POTRO', will be equipped with two charging facilities. Meanwhile one charging facility will be installed in Hoengseong Traditional Market, and one in Dunbang 1-ri Village Hall in Dunnae-myeon.

The county will secure KRW 200 million budget next year, expanding electric vehicle chargers for business sites, residential areas, tourist destinations, and multi-use facilities that have purchased a large number of POTROs.

Administrative procedures for the establishment of an agricultural industrial complex specialized in E-mobility, which is aimed to be completed in June 2024, have also begun in earnest.

The e-mobility agricultural industrial complex will be built on a site of 215,000 square meters in Jogok-ri, Hoengseong-eup. And it is planned to establish an E-mobility cluster by intensively attracting suppliers in the electric vehicle field.
