Wonju-to invest KRW 19bln in building an eco-friendly digital healthcare industry support center

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) An eco-friendly digital healthcare industry support center will be established in Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, a mecca of the advanced medical device industry.

Wonju-si announced on September 14 that its project to build the eco-friendly digital healthcare industry support center, which the city pushes for development of the medical device industry, was approved in 2020 Eco-friendly clean project organized by the Ministry of Environment.

The eco-friendly clean project is to induce sustainable local development while minimizing pollution of the water quality, by supporting a project that can revitalize the local economy and reducing pollution of the Han River system.

The center, which will be established inside the Medical Device Comprehensive Support Center in Wonju Enterprise City, will be built with 1 underground floor and 5 stories above the ground with KRW 19 billion investment including KRW 11.2 billion Han River water system fund.

Its design will begin in January next year, with construction completion scheduled for the first half of 2025.

It will be equipped with space for companies, digital open lab, support facilities, and promotion hall, among others.
