The total amount of forest products in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do has increased by 25% in the recent three years.

Yeongwol-gun reckons that it is a result of the project to strengthen forestry industry competitiveness, which was carried out as a major project by the 7th popularly elected local government.

The total amount of forest products in Yeongwol-gun grew by 25%, from KRW 7.6 billion in 2017 to KRW 9.5 billion in 2020, up 25%, or KRW 1.9 billion, over the past three years.

Yeongwol-gun invested KRW 5 billion in the project for strengthening forestry industry competitiveness over the past three years during the 7th popularly elected government, including planting Aruncus dioicus in 60 hectares and the creation of a distribution center and a forest product sales center.

In 2022, it plans to additionally invest KRW 2.1 billion in the project to achieve the goal of KRW 11 billion in total forest products production amount.

Yeongwol-gun's governor said on October 1 that "We will increase income of forestry households by strengthening the competitiveness of the forestry industry through active investment in production, processing and distribution to make most use of the regional characteristics - forest accounts for more than 80% of the total area."
