According to Yonhap News,

The investment in the 'Pyeongchang Peace Data Center' project, which invests KRW 360 billion in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, is gaining momentum as planned.

Pyeongchang-gun announced on November 28 that the investment in the project to build the Peace Data Center, which is being pursued with Gangwon-do and Ltech Korea to lead the 4th industrial revolution technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), has been finalized.

Following the investment agreement in April this year, Ltech Korea, an investment company, signed a purchase contract to buy a business site of 155,675 square meters in Homyeong-ri, Jinbu-myeon, in August, and completed the payment on October 22.

Ltech Korea has established a plan for the designation as an industrial complex after continuous consultation with Gangwon-do and Pyeongchang-gun for speedy implementation of the project, now reaching the application stage.

The goal is to commence construction in the first half of next year and complete it before the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics.

The Peace Data Center is planned to be in the scale of 16,528 square meters, with the data center and various other facilities, and expected to create about 300 new jobs.

In particular, the establishment of a world-class data center is expected to create a new growth engine for the information and communication industry and will greatly help revitalize the local economy.

Going forward, a hydrogen fuel cell power plant (about 2,000 pyeong) is also planned to be built on the site of the data center.

To this end, Pyeongchang-gun signed a 'Pyeongchang Smart Energy Project Investment Agreement' with JNY and UVC in September.

Pyeongchang-gun expects to become a hub city of the 4th industry and smart energy industry based on the data center and hydrogen fuel cell power plant.
