According to Yonhap News,

Gangwon-do announced on December 16 that it had achieved this year's export target of USD 2.5 billion earlier than expected.

According to Gangwon-do, its exports amounted to USD 2.515 billion as of the end of November, exceeding its target of USD 2.5 billion for this year.

This is the largest amount since the province's largest export USD 2.173 billion recorded in 2013.

According to the export statistics data complied by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the main items that contributed to achieving USD 2.5 billion export are medical electronic devices, automobile parts, Ferro Alloys, electric wires, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

Ferroalloy, which used to be ranked high on export items, grew 117.4% thanks to recovery of the global economy.

In addition, the new growth items also grew, electric wire 258.6%, pharmaceuticals 52.3%, and cosmetics 169.8%.

In reflection of such growth, the number of export items exceeding USD 10 million jumped from 3 last year to 10 this year.
