Gangwon-do, Samcheok-si, and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) will be working towards the construction of a 'liquid hydrogen marine infrastructure'.

To this end, Gangwon's Governor, Samcheok's Deputy Mayor, and Vice Chairman of KSOE signed an MOU for cooperation on March 14.

Through the agreement, Gangwon-do and Samcheok-si are set to establish a project plan, provide administrative and financial support, establish a cooperative system, and build the infrastructure for maritime power generation.

The KSOE will cooperate in the establishment of a demonstration center for liquid hydrogen ship equipment and participate in the production of marine mobility.

Gangwon-do plans to lead the creation of East Cost hydrogen industry ecosystem, in cooperation between local government and large business, by investing in expansion of projects through technological development cooperation, marine mobility production, and establishment of the marine infrastructure and expanding the hydrogen industry ecosystem in the East Cost region.

An official from Gangwon-do said, "We will create a hydrogen industry ecosystem in which the region and companies grow by helping excellent companies settle down in the region through promotion of technology development and infrastructure construction for the development of the marine industry."
