According to Yonhap News,
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held the Wonju-region seminar about having special laws in a multi-purpose hall of the Wonju city hall.
Around 160 people - local council members, officials, and civil servants representing six regions including Taebaek, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang, and Jeongseon - attended the seminar.
In particular, Wonju-si with its key promise of promoting Samsung's next-generation factory garnered interests from the vice-mayor, team chiefs in businesses, local council members, the city's chamber of commerce and industry, the city's education office, and university officials.
The city is in a bid to have special laws suitable for regional characteristics and the current business. By doing so, it plans to catch two hares at once - one is to successfully launch the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and the other is to invigorate the economy in the region.
