According to Yonhap News,
Samcheok-si in Gangwon-do is poised to focus its administrative capacity on fostering hydrogen industry.
The hydrogen industry is the core pledge by the 8th general election, and also a future strategic industry for a continued growth in the low-carbon era.
In order to realized keep the promise, the city plans to inject a total of KRW 69.3 billion of investments, and to promote the cluster.
The project will be carried out in six categories including industrial complex, materials and parts inspection testbed, and a hub for R&D.
And the city inked MoUs with Gangwon-do, Gangwon University, Gangwon Technopark and etc. on Aug. 25.
Currently the city is pushing forward hydrogen industry projects such as designating liquified hydrogen industry's regulation-free special zone and forming hydrogen's storage and delivery cluster.
An official said, "we anticipate that clusters will allow more comprehensive support to hydrogen companies," adding "we will also respond to the matter of disappearing rural areas with the hydrogen industry."
