Gangwon State is set out to attract foreign tourists by joining hands with a large online travel agency (OTA) in China.

On May 13, Gangwon State signed an MOU on expansion of foreign tourist attraction at the headquarters of Trip.com in Sanghai, China with the presence of Gangwon's deputy governor Jeong Kwang-yeol and CEO Jane Sun of Trip.com.

The two parties committed to cooperate in tourism development and promotional marketing using Gangwon's tourism resources, joint campaign planning and promotional advertisements, joint local promotion and market trend information sharing, among others.

In addition, they plan to develop customized tourism products utilizing the facilities from the Gangwon Olympics and conduct targeted marketing in cooperation with ski resorts ( Yongpyeong, High1) and selected travel agencies.

Gangwon has been pushing for product development and promotional marketing using tourism contents such as winter, Korean Wave, and wellness with Trip.com, and expect this MOU will advance their cooperative relationships.
