Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, is demonstrating its growth as a great city for doing business through active investment attraction.

On June 19, Wonju-si announced that it has attracted 16 companies in the first half of this year alone, attracting investment of KRW 455.2 billion and creating 811 new jobs.

Companies' investment contributes to increasing local tax revenues and creating jobs for local talent.

Also, it makes a positive effect on revitalizing the local economy by stimulating the use of local raw materials and partner companies.

Of 16 companies, the city will sign an investment agreement with four companies, including Bio & Chemical R&D, SeAH Special Steel, Cell Ark Bio, and Genewel at the provincial government office today.

Under the agreement, the four companies will implement new factory construction and facility investment in Wonju Enterprise City and Bangye General Industrial Complex.

A total of KRW 159.9 billion investment and 182 new job creation are expected.

In particular, as three companies excepting SeAh are specialized in pharmaceutical, bio, and medical device, which are expected to development of Wonju's digital healthcare industry and pharmaceutical and bio industries.

With three companies added to seven existing pharmaceutical and bio companies in Wonju Enterprise City, the city expects it will play a leading role in promoting the growth of pharmaceutical and bio industries.
