According to Yonhap News,

On August 13, Gangwon State announced that agri-food exports as of the end of July this year amounted to USD 321 million, up 27% from USD 253 million year-on-year.

A significant increase in agri-food exports in the province is attributable to the increased exports of processed foods thanks to the Korean wave of K-foods.

The items that recorded more than USD 3 million exports were sauces (bulgogi and tteokbokki), liquor (soju and fermented grain liquor), noodles (ramen), snacks (biscuit), and ginseng (ginseng beverage), two more than last year.

Despite the challenging environment such as the persistent heat wave, super-weak yen, and tightening quarantine, exports of fresh agricultural products remained similar to that of the previous years.

By export market, the growth rate was the highest in the US market, followed by Canada and Vietnam.

Exports by market (growth rate) are as follows: USD 79 million (up 100.9%); Canada USD 14 million (up 53.1%); Vietnam USD 16 million (up 39.9%); Netherlands USD 14 million (up 28.9%); and China USD 35 million (up 26.6%).

An official from the provincial office said, "we will devise various support measures to preemptively respond to changing export environment and stimulate consumption, contributing to the expansion of agri-foods."
