According to Yonhap News,

(JEJU=Yonhap News) Jeju Province announced Feb. 6 that 43 international conferences are set to be held in the Province this year, attracting over 31,000 visitors to the island.

The Province expects a total of 31,152 to participate in 43 international conferences on a scale of over 300 participants, including the 42nd Kiwanis ASPAC Convention (2,000), the 2nd AIIB annual meeting (2,000), and the 39th International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (3,000).

More participants are expected to visit the island than last year, when 26,557 participated in 42 international conferences with over 300 participants.

To expand the island's MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) industry, the Province and the Jeju Convention Bureau plan to continue various MICE marketing activities, such as holding MICE information sessions for conferences and associations, as well as large-scale MICE industry exhibitions.

Increasing its budget for providing incentives to attracting various conventions by 20%, from KRW 350mn last year to KRW 420mn, the Province has set out to increase the number of high value-added events such as international conferences.
