According to Yonhap News,

(JEJU=Yonhap News) Jeju Special Self-governing Province announced May 2 that its battery recycling center project was selected through an open recruitment to receive national funding.

The new battery recycling center will be built within Jeju Tecnopark's Digital Convergence Center located at the Jeju Advanced Science and Technology Complex.

A total of KRW 18.9 billion (including KRW 8.6 billion from the national government) will be invested in the project until 2019, and is expected to create some 200 jobs.

Jeju Technopark will work with Jeju National University to build a system for analysis and testing, as well as establish national standards for recycling batteries.

In addition to the center, the province has also been selected to receive national support for its project to build an ecoplatform business model that demonstrates ESS-based EV charging infrastructure.
