According to Newsis News,

(JEJU=Newsis News) Jeju Special Self-governing Province announced June 11 that it has signed to supply 2,122 electric vehicles (EVs), which is 34 percent of its annual goal of 6,205 EVs.

The number is a 29.7 percent increase from the 1,636 vehicles supplied during the first five months last year, and is thought to reflect the expansion of charging infrastructure, as well as changes in how Jeju residents think of the environmental impact of driving.

By vehicle type, 1,250 were for private use, 82 for business purposes, 541 rental cars, 97 taxis, and 152 government vehicles.

As of late May 2017, 1.96 percent (7,067) of the total 359,907 vehicles on Jeju Island are EVs, almost double the 1 percent share nine months ago.

To expand the supply of EVs on the island, the province has introduced various policies, including subsidies for replacing gasoline cars with EVs, and support for R&D on recycling EV batteries.
