Four Seasons to open chain in Jeju

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts said Friday it will open its second chain in South Korea on the country's resort island of Jeju, as it attempts to expand its presence in the local tourism industry.

The second hotel will open for business at the Jeju Shinhwa World by 2019 at the latest. The Shinhwa World resort complex under development will encompass high-end hotel facilities along with a series of entertainment options including a water park, theme park and casino, the hotel operator said.

The complex is partially open with the plan being to start full-fleged operations in 2019.

"Korea is an important market for luxury leisure and business travelers," J. Allen Smith, President and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts said. "We are pleased to be extending our presence with a new resort experience on Jeju Island to complement our urban property in Seoul."

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts currently operates 105 hotels, resorts and residences in 43 countries, including one in Seoul.
