(Jeju=Yonhap News) The 8th Jeju Youth Forum is set take place at the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives' training center in Jeju from November 2 to 6, 2017.

Co-hosted by Jeju Self-Governing Province and Provincial Office of Education, and Organized by the Jeju office of the International Training Centre for Local Actors (CIFAL) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the event is scheduled to be attended by a total of some 320 students and teachers, including 164 students from 24 regions from 7 countries.

Participating regions include 10 cities in China, 8 cities in Japan, as well as Sakhalin (Russia), Selenge Aimag (Mongolia), Hawaii (U.S.A.), Ottawa (Canada), and Thinphu (Bhutan).

At the opening ceremony, Korea's former Ambassador to the United Nations Oh Jun, famous for his speech at the UN Security Council on human rights in the North will deliver the keynote address.

Participants will engage in heated discussions on the four themes of 'how to protect and promote migrant workers' rights', ' how to protect cultural and natural world heritages', how to reduce waste effectively', and 'how to eradicate inequality and injustice in society'.
