According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The southern resort island of Jeju replaced the Japanese city of Osaka as the most popular tourist destination for South Koreans this year, Skyscanner, a global travel search engine, said Sunday.

An analysis of 60 million airline tickets searched by South Korean travelers by the travel fare aggregator website in the January-October period revealed that individual travelers showed the most interest in the island, beating the second-place Japanese city of Osaka, which topped the list of popular destinations last year.

Tokyo took third place, followed by Fukuoka, Bangkok, Danang, Hong Kong, Taipei, Okinawa, Cebu and Guam.

In the analysis, the Vietnamese central city of Danang gained six rankings from the previous year to enter the top 10 list of popular destinations for the first time.

Two other Vietnamese cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, soared to 15th and 17th place, respectively, from 21st and 23rd place last year.

People who traveled with family members also chose Jeju as the most popular destination, trailed by Guam, Danang, Okinawa, Osaka, Cebu, Fukuoka, Tokyo, Bangkok and Saipan.

Popular destinations chosen by people traveling solo were, in order, Osaka, Jeju, Fukuoka, Bangkok, Taipei, Danang and Singapore.
