According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) BGF Retail Co., the operator of CU, Korea's largest convenience store chain, said Monday it has established electric car superchargers at five of its stores on the country's resort island of Jeju in its latest effort to boost convenience for eco-friendly car owners.

BGF Retail said it takes 30 minutes to fully charge vehicles at the stations. When fully charged, cars can drive 200 kilometers on average.

The service in Jeju will be free of charge until the end of January, the company said.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a total of 25,108 electric cars are registered throughout the country as of December 2017. Among them, 9,206, or 36.6 percent, are on Jeju Island.

The Jeju provincial government has been at the forefront of electric initiatives under its "Carbon Free Island" project. The regional government provides various subsidies for electric vehicle users.
