According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Shilla Duty Free began partial operation of a new duty-free store at an airport on Korea's southern resort island of Jeju on Thursday, the company said.

Shilla Duty Free, owned by Hotel Shilla Co., opened the store featuring some 60 fragrance and cosmetics brands, as well as liquor and tobacco, at Jeju International Airport.

The company said it will expand the store by June.

In December 2017, Hotel Shilla was tapped to operate the outlet on Jeju, beating its domestic rivals Lotte Duty Free and Shinsegae DF.

The decision came after Hanwha Galleria, a retail unit of Hanwha Group, decided to end its duty-free business at the airport due to a sharp drop in the number of Chinese tourists

Shilla Duty Free has expanded its businesses recently, including the opening of new stores overseas. The company said it expects overseas operations to soon exceed the 1 trillion won (US$939 million) mark.
