On March 13, the Jeju Provincial Government announced its plan to assemble and dispatch the Halal Market Research and Pioneering Group, which will travel the world and analyze the potentials of halal markets for Jeju’s food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical businesses.

The delegation, to be comprised of the marketing officials of five major local businesses in Jeju, will visit Indonesia and Malaysia from March 12 to 16 to survey the current status of halal markets in these countries and explore new opportunities to export Jeju’s businesses.

The delegates will also visit the halal certification agencies and local distributors to learn about the certification procedure and halal-certified exports. They will also hold meetings with local distributors and importers to advertise Jeju’s products and develop opportunities for new business.

The Jeju Provincial Government and the Techno Park have been supporting 15 strong local businesses with growth potentials since 2015, providing them with customized support programs, and also deploying the Trade Support Steering Group to help local businesses increase their exports overseas.
