According to Yonhap News,

(JEJU=Yonhap News) Jeju re-establishes plans to build an industrial complex by 2025.

On March 30, the city of Jeju announced it will re-establish the 2015-2025 plans to build an industrial complex to promote the sustainable development of the region's industries.

First steps of the plan include research that will be conducted from March to November of this year.

Research activities will include analyzing the status and condition of Jeju City's industrial complexes, laying the groundwork for industrial complex policies, determining land supply by region and type of industrial complex, establishing assignment plans, analyzing existing industrial sites as well as the supply and demand of locations within the city and finally, reviewing the overall policy.

Back in January 2011, Jeju City announced the 2010-2020 plan for establishing an industrial complex. However, last April, the city issued the 2025 Basic City Plan, and two months later, the Ministry of Land Transport revised the guidelines for building industrial complexes and announced it will review the 2010-2020 plans at a later date.

The Ministry of Land Transport added that it is also necessary to review the overall plans to expand the region's existing agricultural complexes in Gujwa, Geumneung and Daejeong as well as the industrial complexes in Hwabuk and Topyeong.

Kim Gon-seong, Director of Urban Regeneration, said, "We will work towards a comprehensive industrial complex plan that includes industrial, location and infrastructure provision policies aimed at balanced development. We will also create employment and a robust local economy through the timely establishment of an industrial complex and strategic arrangement of local industries."
