Jeju to Build Comprehensive Innovation Center

According to Yonhap News,

(JEJU=Yonhap News) Jeju Innovation City will build a comprehensive center for residents and public workers to take part in cultural activities and to support startups by youth.

On July 22, Jeju-do announced its Jeju Comprehensive Innovation Center was chosen as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's project to improve the living conditions of innovation cities and activate the regional economy.

The new center will be built within the innovation city's 11,819㎡ cultural facility site in Seogwipo City. The 4-story building will feature a swimming pool, cultural education areas and daycare facilities for use by residents and public workers.

The center will also include an innovation city development support center to serve as a development base for venture firms and startups by youth.

The KRW 30 billion (50% national and 50% municipal expenditures) construction project will start next year and is scheduled to finish in 2023.

The province will undergo administrative procedures such as the shared property management plan review. Next year, it will purchase land, complete the design process and begin construction in 2020.
