Jeju to Hold Forum on Future Plan for Ocean Environment

According to Yonhap News,

(JEJU=Yonhap News) Future Plan for Jeju's Ocean Environment Forum will be held on September 18 at Cheju Halla University.

The Forum is organized to successfully host the 23rd International Seaweed Symposium (ISS-2019) next year in Jeju.

"We are expecting that a thousand participants from 50 countries will visit Jeju to attend the 23rd ISS-2019," said Jo Dong-geun, the director of Fisheries Policy Division, and added, "By preparing thoroughly this year's forum, we will maximize the effect of hosting ISS-2019 and do our best to develop industry related to marine algae from Jeju."

The International Seaweed Symposium has been organized every three years since it was first held in Edinburgh, U.K. in 1952. Korea will host the first ISS-2019 from April 28 to May 3 next year at Jeju International Convention Center.
