ASEAN-Korea Centre to Hold the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Development Workshop

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The ASEAN-Korea Centre announced on October 1 that it will jointly host the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Development Workshop under the theme of "Sustainable Tourism for Natural Heritage Destinations" from October 3 to 5 at the International Convention Center, Jeju Island, Korea, with UNITAR CIFAL.

The workshop will include lectures by experts, share natural heritage developments in each country and develop action plans, and will be attended by tourism professionals from public and private sectors in 10 ASEAN countries.

Lee Hyuk, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre will deliver an opening speech and Ma Young-sam, Director of UNITAR CIFAL will give a welcome speech at the Opening Ceremony on October 3.

On October 4, participants will be offered an opportunity to attend the Leaders' Dialogue 1 of the World Leader's Conservation Forum (WLCF) 2018, hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The session will feature a panel discussion among renowned figures including Korean Minister of Environment, Kim Eun-kyung and IUCN Director General Inger Andersen.

On October 5, participants will have a technical visit to natural heritage sites, such as Geomunoreum Lava Tube.

"The Workshop aims to allow ASEAN tourism professionals to share knowledge and good practices on the sustainable development of each natural heritage” said the Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre.
