(JEJU=Yonhap News) The development of public transportation transfer center connecting Jeju International Airport and major road points is set to move forward.
Jeju province announced on January 24 that it is considering the site and scale of Jaju International Airport Complex Transfer Center, one of core projects to innovate public transportation system.
The city plans to confirm the site and development scale by the end of May and select a developer in June.
In July last year, the provincial government presented a plan to build a complex public transportation transfer center at Jeju Airport, a gateway to Jeju, Seoguipo terminal, Donggwang six-way traffic, and Daecheon intersection sequentially until 2030.
In line with innovation in public transportation system, the province is intended to build a new transfer system connecting express bus, blue bus, green bus, etc.
The province also initially considered to create a "welcome city" in which commercial, medical, and accommodation facilities in the vicinity of Jeju Airport Transfer Center to be located, but cancelled this plan due to opposition from land owners and concerns over reckless development.
