Jeju-si is to come up with measures to reinvigorate the regional economy through cooperation between all divisions.
It is a response to this year's economic forecast, which is likely to decline due to economic uncertainties home and abroad, decreasing number of tourists since 2017, and lackluster construction business.
As a measure to revitalize the economy, Jeju-si establishes a "group to push for economic vitality of Jeju-si" to proceed with 52 practical tasks suggested by 49 divisions.
Major policies to receive KRW 113.9 billion investment include the creation of sustainable jobs, generation of stable income sources by solidifying the 1st industrial foundation, increasing residents' income by utilizing regional resources (environment, culture, tradition, etc.), fostering culture/tourism/sports industries, and making investment in expansion of city infrastructures.
Jeju-si sets the target of public sector job creation at 11,000, by increasing jobs in public services and for young people.
An official said, "We will make tangible results from various policies led by all divisions so that local residents can actually feel the effects."
