According to Yonhap News,

Approximately over 30,000 Chinese tourists are expected to come and visit to Jeju Island during the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival.

Jeju Tourism Association released a report on Jan. 14 saying the number of Chinese visitors who come to Jeju is estimated to be 37,000, largely from mainland China (87.9%, 27,000), Taiwan (2,600) and Hongkong (1,100). The figure is a 36.23 percent jump compared to last year. Jeju has been witnessing a steady increase in the number of tourists from China since 2018, when Beijing was mad at Seoul’s decision to deploy US anti-missile defense system, known as THAAD batteries on the peninsula.

Flight routes that directly connect Jeju and other cities across China has increased 40.33 percent during the period. Meanwhile, roughly 210,000 visitors home and abroad are likely to come to Jeju Island during Lunar New Year’s Holiday, a 9.62 percent up from a year earlier.
