According to Yonhap News,

Jeju Island and Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education are embarking on a special project of collective buying in hopes of helping Jeju farmers struggling to find sales channels to sell organic, locally grown fresh foods and agro products due to the economic fallout from the coronavirus.

The local authorities recently had an in-depth conversation, as part of contingency plans with local food suppliers and farmers and reached a consensus to open a group buying platform.

Customers can purchase a 2.4kg fresh, seasonal veg box, which consists of six different types of leafy vegetables at KRW 10,000. The event lasts until Mar. 20. Anyone interested in the project can come and pick up the box on Mar. 13 and 20 in a municipal outdoor parking lot. Participants can share free recipes to use up the veggies.

An official said “It is highly anticipated that the event can help further promote a sense of community to support farmers who are in need of help amid the coronavirus crisis.”
