According to Yonhap News,

Jeju Island announced on Mar. 21 that the local authorities will step up their efforts to support local food suppliers, especially those adding extra value to traditional food & agro industries, being the pioneer of so called the “sixth industry”, as majority of these businesses were financially battered due to the coronavirus fallout.

Local food producers, processors and suppliers involved in agro-business are now witnessing over 50-80 percent of plunge in sales revenue.

The provincial authorities provide financial aid, covering shipping costs to support those in need of help.

The candidates to join the service can be given the cash grants- almost 50 percent of the delivery cost for 100 cases in March and April. For the cost of shipments already paid for, they’ll cover marketing or advertising costs instead.

Apart from the plan, Jeju Island spends another KRW 460 million running a direct marketing campaign and developing households’ convenience foods using locally harvested fresh ingredients, part of supportive measures to help local farmers and food suppliers.
