According to Yonhap News,

Chances are all vehicles running across Jeju Island, distributed in public agencies or used solely for official purposes, switch to plug-in cars.

The city government announced a signing of MOU on Jun. 12 with 47 public bodies which include Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education, Jeju University and Jeju District Court under the agenda to encourage EVs with gasoline car bans. The provincial authorities expect the agreement to help more than 300 official vehicles in public bodies turn into EVs by the end of 2022.

There remain some exceptions for specialty vehicles. MOTIE will leave them unchanged, given their professional purposes. The local government also set a plan to build out EV infrastructure by accommodating larger capacity for parking space exclusive to EVs in the public parking lot, while spreading out charging networks across the Island.

In the pursuit of cutting down CO2 emissions in Jeju Island, the MOU signed this time was designed as part of proactive approach taken by the public sector.
