According to Newsis,

Jeju Island picked 18 finalists to benefit from the authorities’ biz-support programs this year, which aim to provide a string of incentives for local startups and small business with bright prospects.

Out of 23 potential candidates, 18 (14 newly added on the list and four reselected) have finally become the selectees, going through three separate screening stages.

The program started to discover local hidden champions and socially responsible SMEs and give them a leg up to grow into the flagship business to represent the community. Those chosen this year by industry category include manufacturing (6), service (5), construction (2), waste management (1), wholesale (1) and transportation (1), respectively.

They’re entitled to be given loan services allowing business to stay afloat (up to KRW 400 million), business loan relief (3%) and fee waiver services (0.3%) and other financial and administrative incentives for two years.

The program, which has begun since last 2006, selected 234 candidates in total until now.
