According to Yonhap News,

Jeju National University (JNU) cut the first turf for its project to construct a campus building, dedicated to industry-college partnership programs.

JNU said on Dec 28 that they hosted a ground breaking ceremony on Dec 24, assessed to be one of the college’s long-cherished business. It could be a landmark moment for JNU which facilitates the partnership center particularly when the economy is on its way to the fourth industrial revolution and the Korean Version of New Deal, requiring tighter coalition between academia and industry than ever in history.

With KRW 18.3 billion in total, the center will be built on a 7,123㎡ site (gross area) until the first half of the year 2022, accommodating global Joint-research labs, research rooms for the world class scholars and spaces for international exchange programs.

There will be a startup incubation center, which provides a one-stop solution to start a business, demo-rooms and specially designed spaces to embody entrepreneurial innovation.

The center is anticipated to be a local R&D hub, accompanying a tech-development center and R&D institutes associated with local development initiatives.
