According to Yonhap News,

The 'Human New Deal' will be added to the 'Jeju-type New Deal Project' pushed for by Jeju Province to build a safety net and achieve balanced regional development.

Jeju-do announced on October 12 that it would add the Human New Deal, which aims to strengthen a safety net, to existing Jeju-type New Deal projects encompassing Green New Dael and Digital New Deal, with the addition of related regionally balanced New Deal, expanding to 3+1 system.

Accordingly, the province plans to put into KRW 6.546 trillion into Jeju-type New Deal projects by 2025, creating 45,000 jobs.

By sector, it will invest KRW 4 trillion in Green New Deal, KRW 800 billion in Digital New Deal, and KRW 1.6 trillion in Human New Deal.

When it comes to job creation targets, it aims to create 21,918 jobs in Green New Deal, 6,599 in Digital New Deal, and 17,317 in Human New Deal.

The province will push for support policies such as 'establishment of smart quarantine system', 'support for the youth employment and living stability,' and 'job creation' in the newly added Human New Deal area.

In addition, the welfare delivery system and care for the underprivileged will be bolstered in response to deepening gaps in care and polarization due to COVID 19.

Also, the province will go ahead with policies for employment, safety net, and fostering healing industries.

The province has pushed for Green New Deal and Digital New Deal projects since it announced 'Jeju-style New Deal comprehensive plan' in October last year.

The Jeju Research Institute's research revealed that Jeju-style New Deal projects invested KRW 727.9 billion for a year, producing direct/indirect related-industry production inducement of KRW 789.4 billion, KRW 418.3 billion added-value, and 4,757 job creation.

The key projects of Green New Deal are hydrogen demonstration and renewable energy production, fostering of EV industry; while those of Digital New Deal are Smart City Challenge, and stronger digitalization for local industries.
