According to Yonhap News,

Jeju-do and Guangdong Province, China will strengthen exchange and cooperation, including expansion of direct air routes.

On May 10, Jeju-do said that its Governor Oh met with Vice Governor Zhang Xin of Guangdong and propose cooperation in new industries such as self-driving cars and green hydrogen, as weㅣl as expansion of direct air routes.

Governor Oh said, "The Shenzhen-Jeju direct route is i operation, resuming in five years," adding, "We also hope the direct flight connection with Guangzhou in the future, expanding access to the citizens of Guangdong Province to visit Jeju".

Vice Governor Zhang Xin responded that "we hope that there will be more opportunities to share experiences in the future in advanced fields such as science and technology, education, culture, and society."

He also said that "we will actively consider the participation of Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the Green Hydrogen Forum in Jeju."

Governor Oh previously visited the headquarters of Pony.ai, located in Guangzhou, and said, "there will be huge synergy effect if Jeju, which is visited by 15 million tourists every year with great road and traffic conditions, and Poly.ai, which produces self-driving cars demonstrating excellent technology join hands and work together," proposing to have discussion on cooperation measures at working-level.
