Jeju Science Park, which opened with great success, driven by relocation of Daum headquarters in 2012, is opening its second chapter.

According to JDC on May 28, the groundbreaking ceremony for the site of Jeju Science Park Complex 2will be held on May 30 at Wolpyeong-dong, Jeju-si.

Jeju Science Park Complex 2, which will be built facing the eastern edge of the Complex 1 on a total of 848,163㎡ site, will be pushed for as a complex that meets the demand for high-tech industries such as information technology (IT), bio technology (BT), culture technology (CT), and environmental technology (ET).

The Complex 2 is expected to respond to additional demand, met insufficiently by Complex 1 alone, while also contributing to bolstering the competitiveness of Jeju's high-tech industries and creating jobs.

Its project plan was first reflected in 2014 Jeju Comprehensive Development Plan and the 2nd Jeju International Free City Execution Plan, it went through the designation and declaration of national industrial complex in 2016, followed by the approval of development execution plan in 2022.

In a nutshell, construction begins 10 years after the establishment of the project plan.

Jeju Science Park, which aims to bring high-tech companies to Jeju, is one of core projects of JDC, a public corporation under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Complex 1, created on a site of 1.009 million ㎡ in Ara-dong, Jeju-si, completed 100% of the sale in 2013, and currently home to 203 companies.

Thanks to such benefits as 100% exemption of local and national taxes for five years, Daum, ESTsoft, and others
