On September 19, Jeju-do signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for energy conversion and 2035 carbon neutrality with Project Zero, a vision for the city Sonderborg in southern Denmark and Danfoss Korea, an energy solution company.
Project Zero was launched in 2007 as a partnership consisted of civic groups, global energy companies and the city of Sonderborg, which has a population of 74,000.
Danfoss Korea is a Korean subsidiary of Danfoss, a Danish company that participates in the project.
The three partieis met at the office of Project Zero, and agreed to cooperate to stimulate the move towards carbon neutrality based on the experience and knowledge in the field of creating renewable energy infrastructure and transition to renewable energy.
Regarding the energy industry, they will work for cooperation to establish strategies for carbon neutrality, R&D, human resources training, and commercialization.
They also agreed to materialize high-efficiency low-consumption city by sharing experience and technology in installing and operating energy recycling system.
CEO Brian Seeberg of Project Zero said, "we know that Jeju has ambitious plans regarding green hydrogen and renewable energy transition," adding that "we hope to have opportunity to share our city's solution."
Jeju's Governor said, "the example of Project Zero that leads carbon neutrality by creating a new platform connecting the government, civil society, and companies is very beneficial to Jeju. So we will explore ways to apply that some of the case to Jeju."
