According to Yonhap News,

Jeju said that Asia Pacific Geoparks Network(APGN) decided to host its third symposium in Jeju in 2013.

Jeju island is a global geopark and a biosphere reserve approved by the UNESCO. It has several international convention centers such as ICC with its beautiful scenery.

In particular, Jeju was highly evaluated with its experience of hosting big international events such as Korea-ASEAN Summit and the 2nd Asia Environment and Health Ministers Forum.

APGN is composed of 33 geoparks in 7 member states, holding symposium every two years from 2007.

Jeju expects that APGN symposium can boost the local economy.
