The
22nd International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) Congress opens on June 11 at
Jeju International Convention Center under the theme of "Happy Pigs - Healthy
People."
The congress begins with the opening speech of the organization commissioner of IPVS Lee Won-hyeong saying that "Given that assuring the quality and safety of pork are very important for customers, we should focus on conducting thorough inspection on swine diseases."
Park Yong-ho, director of inspection on agricultural, forestry and fishery products, said in a congratulatory message that "I expect the congress will be a venue where world-renowned veterinarians gather to share knowledge and expertise on prevention of swine diseases and new industrial technology."
And then Dr. Dan Tuker from Cambridge University delivered a lecture to commemorate the internationally renowned swine veterinarian Tom Alexander and Dr. Julio Pinto from Food and Agriculture Organization made a keynote speech on factors in development of swine diseases.
The biennial event brings together swine veterinarians and those in the swine industry to share prevention and diagnosis of swine diseases and cutting-edge technology.
