According to Yonhap News,

Korea Electric Power Corporation Engineering and Construction (KEPCO E&C) and Daelim Industrial are aggressively engaged in establishing a marine wind power generation complex in Jeju.

They held a completion ceremony for meteorological tower, built for establishing the wind power complex, in Jeju City.

The tower, located two kilometers away from the coast, is 95 meters in height and 1.5-3 meters in diameter. It is designed to collect meteorological data including temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and wind direction and velocity from three points, 15, 54 and 94 meters away from the ground, respectively, and automatically send it to the control room.

KEPCO E&C and Daelim Industrial will review the feasibility of wind power complex and then start the project step by step after analyzing data collected via the tower for a year.

KEPCO E&C signed an agreement with Jeju in December, 2010 to invest a total of 450 billion won to establish a wind power generation complex, equipped with 34 wind power generators (3MW grade), in collaboration with domestic public corporations, wind power generator manufacturers and big-size companies.
