According to Yonhap News,
MONEUAL, a domestic home appliance manufacturer, decided to relocate its headquarter and research centers from Seoul to Jeju.
MOEUAL will inject 50 billion won by next November into building a headquarter building, a research, test and training center and a dormitory on a 20,665 square meter-site in Jeju High-Tech Science & Technology Complex.
MONEUAL planned to hold a groundbreaking for the construction next Monday with the constructor POSCO Engineering at first, but cancelled the ceremony due to the recent devastating typhoon that hit Jeju hard. Instead, the company donated the ceremony expense worth 20 million won to typhoon victims.
MONEUAL will start operation in 2014 and hire new 45 employees.
MONEUAL is the first company in the world to develop the home theater PC. With factories in Gyeonggi's Ansan and China's Shenzhen, the company manufactures energy-efficient PCs, laptops, displays, media equipment and robot vacuum cleaners. Last year, it recorded the annual sales of 495.3 billion won.
MONEUAL is reported to have decided to move to Jeju due to the eco-friendly environment surrounding Jeju High-Tech Science & Technology Complex and Jeju's business-friendly investment environment.
