According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Tourism Association today, local visitors to Jeju reached 4.015615 million as of yesterday.

It is a 1.1 percent (42,851) increase from last year’s 3.972764 million over the same period. In last year, the number of local visitors exceeded four million on June 26, two days later than this year.

Tourism insiders analyzed that the increase in local visitors is due to enhance access to Jeju with more flights and sea routes despite a decrease in early this year.

The number is also expected to be due to increased number of tourists in spring and a vacation season in next month.

In June, local visitors of 595,598 travelled to Jeju in 24 days, which is 6.2 percent higher compared to 560,777 of last June.

The number of total visitors to Jeju, including foreigners, was increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year at 4.851850 million.
