(JEJU = Newsis) The tourism policies delivered by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Jeju) have achieved the outstanding outcomes, according to an announcement by the provincial office on Sunday.
The province’s tourism policy that aims to attract two million foreign visitors was introduced nationwide as an exemplary precedence and has become the benchmark for other local governments.
The building of overseas promotion system, which comprises overseas marketing and establishment of overseas bases, received the best rating of “excellent” in the assessment by the Prime Minister’s office for the third consecutive years between 2010 and 2012.
The province also received the best rating of “Ga” between 2010 and 2012 in the joint assessment conducted by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration for attracting foreign tourists and overseas promotion activities, which aim to secure the readiness for the induction of foreign tourists, nurture the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Exhibition) industry and conduct overseas marketing.
The Korea National Tourism Survey by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) also showed that Jeju topped 11 out of 15 tourist satisfaction ratings in 2011 and 2012 in the following areas: convenient transportation systems and accommodation facilities, plenty of tourism information and amenities, kind tourism employees.
“Jeju Olle Waking Festival” was also nominated as an exemplary case of the outstanding overseas marketing and introduced in the business event of the Baozhen Group incentive event in the annual conference of tourism chiefs hosted by the MCST in 2011, and was chosen as one of the six special Visit Korea Year events hosted by the Visit Korea Committee between 2010 and 2012.
