(JEJU = Yonhap News) A large marine leisure complex, which comprises a marine park, an exhibition center and a concert hall and others, will be established in Seogwipo-si in the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
The Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC) announced on January 14 that it will invest a total of KRW 694 billion to establish a 1,380,000 m2 marine leisure complex, aiming at fostering Jeju Island a global marine leisure and sports hub.
The complex will include a basin for 300 yachts, clubhouse, harbor facilities, a marine park, an exhibition hall, a concert hall and commercial and accommodation facilities and other theme facilities.
In last December, the JDC cooperated with marine consortiums including Korea CKIM, Spain IPM, Bellingham Marine Industries of the United States and Australia to establish it business plans, and it will actively attract investment from private sector this year.
The JDC also asked the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs to reflect its project in basic plans for government-led marina projects and obtained approval for the feasibility of the project in 2012.
