Jeju Information Network Village Posts KRW 4 Bn Revenue in 2013

(JEJU = Newsis) Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on February 9 that its Information Network Village (Invill) recorded a total of KRW four billion in revenue in 2013, up by 11 percent compared to the last year.

Sangye Village, North Jeju Gamsan Valley Village and Yeongpyeong Village appeared to be the most profitable villages among the province’s 18 information network villages. In particular, mandarins of Sangye Village and North Jeju Gamsan Valley Village, and agricultural products of Yeongpyeong Village became very popular in the market.

Invill holds temporary markets in the metropolitan area during the Lunar New Year’ Day and Korean Thanksgiving Day, and run an official website (www.invil.com) to promote and sell Jeju’s agricultural and fishery products to the customers nationwide.

It also provide IT and e-commerce trainings to local residents.

The province runs nine Information Network Villages in Jeju-si and eight in Seogwipo-si in an effort to narrow information gap between farming and fishing villages and provide support to the region’s e-commerce.
