Jeju to Hold Wind Energy Exposition

(JEJU = Newsis) 2014 Wind Energy Asia (WEA 2014) will be held at the International Convention Center Jeju (ICC Jeju) from February 19 to 21.

The exposition is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE), National Assembly’s new & renewable energy policy research forum, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Jeju Institute for Regional Program Evaluation, and organized by Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Creativity Institute, Asia Wind Energy Association and ICC Jeju.

Andrew Garrad, President of the European Wind Energy Association, and Lee Jang-moo, Co-chairman of the National Science and Technology Council, will give the keynote speech of “Prospects of Offshore Wind Farm” and “Climate Change and Zero City” at the opening session respectively.

In the policy session, the MOTIE, the chairman of the Chinese Wind Energy Association, director of energy of the government of Mongolia, wind energy expert of Asian Development Bank (ADB) will introduce guidelines of policies related to the wind energy industry in Asian Countries and suggest new direction of the industry under the theme of “Direction of Government Policy for the Expansion of Wind Energy in Asia”.

On the second day of the event, Oh Jeong-bae, President of the Korea Wind Energy Association, will deliver a lecture on the subject of “Challenges for Korea’s Offshore Wind Farm Industry”, and wind energy experts from the Great Britain, Japan and Hong Kong and other nations will introduce considerations regarding the development of offshore wind farm and investment for the industry and case studies on the wind turbine design and the Japanese offshore wind farm industry.

Two tech sessions will be held on the last day of the event, and companies from Denmark, Norway, the Netherland and Germany will share with audiences the information about solutions to noise and vibration problems, cost-cutting design for wind turbine tower and technologies for new wind turbines.

In ADB’s “Wind Energy Development” session, cases of small wind turbines that are widely used in Asian countries and power plants suitable for small communities will be introduced.
