Jeju Ranks No.1 in Environment and Tourism Competitiveness

(JEJU=NEWSIS) The city of Jeju ranked top for environment and tourism competitiveness among 77 cities nationwide. The survey, 2014 Korea Local Brand Competitiveness Index (KLBCI), was conducted jointly by the National Brand Research Center at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and The Korea Economic Daily.

Jeju city said on May 15 that ‘Local Brand’ can be defined as local residents’ perception of how they feel about their city and general understanding of the city. For residents of a city, it shows how satisfied they are with. For a city it presents expectation for revisit. And for the companies invested in a city, it explains intangible assets that can create additional value.

On this survey, the city of Jeju ranked No.1 in environment and tourism, No. 6 in investment climate and No. 13 in residential environment.

To be more specific, Jeju city ranked top in accommodation conditions by the survey, boasting the country’s top brand competitiveness.

The joint survey of 13,650 people was conducted online on the theme of ‘Asset value of Local brand’ from February 17 to March 10.

Evaluation items for the survey were 11 in total in three big categories; Residential environment (residence, education and transportation), Tourism environment (cultural heritage, foods, festivals, accommodation and local specialties) and Investment climate (Job opportunity, support for investment and industrial infrastructure)
