According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yon Hap News) Jeju Air Co., South Korea's largest budget carrier, said Wednesday it flew its 20 millionth passenger, marking a first for the industry.

The milestone comes a little over eight years after the low-cost carrier (LCC), operated by Aekyung Industrial Co., began commercial flight services in June 2006. The company said its 20 millionth passenger was on flight 7C102 that arrived at Seoul's Gimpo International Airport on Wednesday from Jeju Island.

The airline, which has a fleet of 16 Boeing B737-800 jets, reported ferrying its one millionth passenger in November 2007, with the five million mark being reached in September 2010. In May 2012, Jeju Air serviced its 10 millionth passenger.

"Having flown just 250,000 people in 2006, Jeju serviced 4.6 million in 2013, a 18-fold surge in numbers," the company said. It said in the last eight years, the number of passengers it hauled rose 51.6 percent on average each year.

Of the total number of people it carried, 72.8 percent were on domestic flights, with the rest being international flights.

The airline operates four domestic flights along with international routes to several nearby countries such as China, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines. It has regular flights to Hong Kong and Guam and provides chartered flight services to other destinations.
